Temple Administration
The Shri Omkareshwar Temple Trust is a public trust responsible for the operation and management of the Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga. A dedicated and skilled group of employees works under the guidance of senior administrative officers to ensure a pleasant experience for the visitors.
Various facilities have been arranged for the devotees visiting the temple, including:
- Shade structures to protect from the sun while standing in line.
- Pure and cool drinking water.
- Comfortable seating arrangements in the Sabha Mandap (Assembly Hall).
- Wheelchairs for differently-abled devotees.
- Special arrangements for Abhishek Poojan (ritual bathing of the idol).
The temple trust also offers multiple options for devotees to perform puja (worship) and rituals. The arrangements for priests, puja materials, etc., are provided. Additionally, the temple is maintained and cleaned regularly, with decorations for special events, including festivals, Monday evening Narmada Aarti, and other important occasions.
Omkar Prasadalay
The Omkar Prasadalay serves food to devotees at nominal charges. The new Shri Omkar Prasadalay, located near the Jhula Pul, can serve around 500 people at a time. It includes a large kitchen and dining hall, providing tables, chairs, coolers, fans, pure drinking water, and resting areas. Meals are served daily between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM, with Khichdi served from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The meals are prepared by trained chefs under the supervision of temple authorities.
Omkar Vishramalaya
To provide a comfortable stay for pilgrims, the Trust has established the Shreeji Vishramalaya near the Omkar Prasadalay. It offers clean, ventilated spaces with beds, drinking water, coolers, quilts, blankets, and special facilities for women, men, and differently-abled individuals. The Vishramalaya accommodates 80 people and is maintained regularly.
Medical Facilities
Although Omkareshwar is a small town, the Trust provides emergency medical services. It operates an ambulance service for transferring seriously ill patients to nearby hospitals in Indore or Khandwa. The Trust also provides basic first aid within the temple complex, along with wheelchairs for differently-abled visitors.
Laddu Mahaprasad Seva
The Laddu Mahaprasad is made from the finest ingredients by skilled artisans at the Shri Omkar Prasadalay. The prasads are packed and sold at the temple counter at affordable prices. This initiative aims to provide devotees with pure prasadam to take home. Additionally, free prasadam is distributed regularly.
Safety Boat Service
Due to the temple's location on the banks of the Narmada River, devotees often bathe in the river. To ensure safety, especially during crowded festival times, the Trust operates a safety boat equipped with lifeguards, life jackets, and other safety gear. The boat is stationed near the ghats during festivals, and safety announcements are also made.
Free Khichdi Seva
The Trust runs a free Khichdi Seva every morning for the needy, including pilgrims, ascetics, parikrama pilgrims, beggars, and the poor. This service has been operating for many years and benefits a large number of people daily.
Social Responsibility
The Trust is also committed to social welfare. It awards prizes to students on Republic Day and Independence Day and assists needy students. Additionally, the Trust provides support to those in need, including the poor and distressed visitors to the temple.
