Omkareshwar Dam

The idea for the Omkareshwar Dam project first arose in 1965, with the goal of providing electricity and irrigation to central India. It is one of the 30 dams built in the Narmada Valley. This concrete dam is 949 meters long and 33 meters high, with a power production capacity of 520 MW. The dam was completed between 2004-2006 and began operation in 2007. Its reservoir has created beautiful islands, and tourism projects are being developed around it.

Indira Sagar Dam

The Indira Sagar Dam, located in Narmadnagar, Madhya Pradesh, is one of the major dam projects in the state. The project was initiated in 1984, with construction starting in 1992 and completed in 2005. This multipurpose project has a power generation capacity of 1000 MW and serves as the foundation for other dams like Omkareshwar and Maheshwar. It creates the largest reservoir in India, spread across 98,90701 acres.
